AFT-Michigan Endorses Samuel Bagenstos for Justice

Samuel Bagenstos has received the endorsement of AFT Michigan in his campaign for the Michigan Supreme Court.

AFT Michigan is the 35,000-member state federation of the 1.5-million-member American Federation of Teachers (AFL-CIO).  AFT Michigan represents PreK-12 and ISD teachers and support staff, community college and university faculty, lecturers, administrators and graduate employees, and credit union employees.

"I'm proud to have received the endorsement of AFT Michigan," Bagenstos said.  "This endorsement is especially sweet to me, because both of my parents were teachers.  Throughout my career, I have fought for the rights of working people."

Samuel Bagenstos has been a civil rights and workers' rights attorney for more than 20 years.  In three recent cases in the United States Supreme Court, he has filed briefs in support of collective bargaining through strong unions.  The endorsement of AFT Michigan for his campaign adds to the list of major labor endorsements he has received, including from the United Auto Workers, the Michigan AFL-CIO, and the Michigan Council of Carpenters.
